EWCE GRANTS FOR STUDENTS

The EWCE grant provides payment to the Affiliate to be disbursed to students for examination costs, entrance fees, and assistance with travel and lodging costs necessary to fulfill entrance requirements at an institution in a foreign country.  This support is directed to students of other countries wishing to study in the U.S. as well as American students wishing to study abroad.  In addition, EWCE will provide support for scholars, academics and experts to attend regional and international conferences dedicated to the principles outlined in our mission statement.

WHO QUALIFIES:

Prospective foreign students from an EWCE Affiliate Educational Institution can apply for a grant from the East West Council for Education.  These awards are intended to encourage foreign study in keeping with the EWCE mission of equality and mutual cooperation in the global community.  Colleges and universities, institutes and centers are or can become EWCE Affiliate Educational Institutions.

 

All applicants must be citizens of a country other than the one in which the program they are entering is based.  The selection is based on demonstrated academic achievement, and will include consideration of demonstrated leadership ability and future career interests.

 

To apply for an EWCE grant, a prospective grantee must meet the following criteria and complete the EWCE Grant Application for Students process.  Pdf forms are provided that can be filled out on line, printed on your printer, and certified with the signature of the appropriate official (dean, department chair, department head, president or director) from your institution, then mailed or faxed to EWCE.

 

• The student must be currently enrolled in an Affiliate Institution of higher education.

• The student is seeking to meet the entrance requirements for a college, university or institute.

• The college being applied to is in a country of which the applicant is not a citizen.

• The application must indicate the qualified fees (see the next paragraph, WHAT ARE QUALIFIED EXPENSES)

• The student must complete the Application Process for Student Grants.

 

WHAT ARE QUALIFIED EXPENSES:

Prospective foreign students from an EWCE Affiliate Education Institution can apply for any expense related to meeting the entry requirements to a program in a country other than his or her country of citizenship.  Typical expenses include but are not limited to:

 

• Preparation course fees for entrance examinations

• Fees for the entrance examinations such as GRE, GMAT, LSAT

• Costs associated with language testing, such as TOEFL

• Limited travel costs related to meeting the entrance requirements

 

WHAT ARE THE TERMS OF THE GRANT:

Your EWCE grant will be transmitted to the EWCE Affiliate Educational Institution and designated for your use for the purpose specified in the grant.  The grant is for the expressed purpose requested on the EWCE Application Form.  Grant recipients must incur the expenses detailed in the grant application within 12 months of the grant award notification.  Amounts awarded will reflect the actual expenses of the individual line items detailed in the grant application.

EWCE will provide support for scholars, academics and experts to provide major addresses or participate in high-level panels at educational programs or events in foreign countries dedicated to the principles outlined in our mission statement.  An EWCE grant provides assistance with travel and lodging expenses required to attend the event.

WHO CAN APPLY:

Prospective scholars from an EWCE Affiliate Educational Institution or scholars seeking to participate in an international program can apply for a grant to help defray expenses related to their attendance.  These awards are intended to encourage the international exchange of research and ideas in keeping with the EWCE mission of equality and mutual cooperation in the global community.

 

To apply for an EWCE grant, a prospective scholar must meet the following criteria and complete the EWCE Application Process for Scholar Grants process.  Pdf forms are provided that can be filled out on line, printed on your printer, and certified with the signature of your supervisor at your institution, then faxed or mailed to EWCE.

 

• The scholar must be a full-time employee of an EWCE Affiliate Educational Institution.

• The scholar must be currently engaged in post-graduate research related to the mission of EWCE.

• The scholar has a special invitation to participate or provide a major address.

• The application must indicate the qualified fees (see the next paragraph on WHAT ARE QUALIFIED EXPENSES) and dollar amounts being sought.

• The scholar must complete the Application Process for Scholar Grants.

 

WHAT ARE QUALIFIED EXPENSES:

Scholars meeting the application criteria listed above can apply for the travel expense related to attending the program for which they are seeking a grant.  These should be generally itemized on the application form.
